New Delhi, 19th Sept. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday extended his greetings to participants at the World Food India 2024, highlighting the event as a dynamic platform for global food industry experts, academics, and researchers.
In his address, PM Modi praised the diverse food culture of India, attributing its richness to the hard work of farmers, who form the backbone of the country’s food ecosystem. He emphasized India’s commitment to supporting farmers through innovative policies and focused implementation.
PM Modi outlined India’s achievements over the past decade, noting significant reforms in the food processing sector. Key initiatives include 100% FDI in food processing, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana, and the Production Linked Incentive scheme. These efforts aim to build modern infrastructure, enhance supply chains, and generate employment.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of empowering small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and women entrepreneurs, aligning with India’s vision to integrate MSMEs into the global value chain.
World Food India 2024 is poised to facilitate global collaboration through B2B interactions, exhibitions, and various sessions, including the Global Food Regulators Summit organized by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). This summit will convene global regulators and prestigious institutes to address food safety, quality standards, and best practices.
PM Modi expressed confidence that critical topics such as food irradiation, plant-based proteins, and the circular economy will be prominently featured, contributing to a sustainable, safe, and nutritious future for the world.
