Pune, 26th Sept. Anurag Singh Thakur, Member of Parliament, said on Wednesday that no force in the world can stop Indian youth from building a developed India, or ‘Viksit Bharat,’ during his keynote address at the ‘Viksit Bharat Ambassador – Yuva Connect’ event at Fergusson College, Pune, where he was the Chief Guest.
Thakur stressed the importance of youth participation in shaping the nation’s future and highlighted the role of Fergusson College in producing intellectuals, leaders, and patriots, noting that its current students are heirs to this rich legacy.
Thakur outlined the various government schemes introduced since 2014, including the Lakhpati Didi Yojana, aimed at empowering women economically, and initiatives to integrate tribals into the mainstream. He spoke on efforts to make farmers self-reliant, improve infrastructure, and enhance healthcare and transportation sectors.
Thakur also discussed the success of the Jan Dhan Yojana, which has facilitated the opening of bank accounts and the delivery of Direct Benefit Transfers to millions of Indians. He noted the rise in digital financial transactions under the Digital India initiative and highlighted the positive impact of government efforts, such as the return of fake ration cards and voluntary relinquishment of LPG concessions.
The minister further explained that India’s rejection of a “slavery mentality” in favor of a developed mindset is driving major initiatives in space and infrastructure, such as Gati Shakti, and predicted that the next iPhone could be made in India under the ‘Design in India’ initiative. He expressed confidence in India’s growing self-reliance in defense manufacturing and exports.
During the event, Thakur engaged with students on topics such as competitive exams, workplace stress, drug abuse, rural development, and unemployment. He also participated in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ tree planting initiative and enjoyed a game of cricket with students.
Entrepreneur Dr. Sudhir Mehta, present as a ‘Youth Icon,’ emphasized that every citizen can contribute to Prime Minister Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat. He highlighted Pune’s development in sectors like education, medicine, and electric vehicles.
The ‘Viksit Bharat Ambassador – Yuva Connect’ initiative, part of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, is engaging students across Maharashtra to emphasize the role of youth in achieving a developed India.
Pramod Rawat, President of the Deccan Education Society, along with college officials, teachers, and students, attended the event, where students also received information about the ‘My Bharat’ portal.
