Vaishnaw Allocates ₹14,700 Crore for Railway Development in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal, 7th Oct. Union Minister for Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, announced a substantial allocation of ₹14,700 crore for railway development in Madhya Pradesh. During a virtual event on Sunday, he flagged off a new train service from Jaura to Kailaras in Morena district, marking the successful conversion of the route from narrow gauge to broad gauge.

Accompanied by Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar, Vaishnaw celebrated the significant strides made in railway infrastructure. “Currently, five Vande Bharat trains are operational in Madhya Pradesh. Over the past decade, we have completed 222 kilometers of new rail lines, 1,200 kilometers of multi-tracking, and 707 kilometers of gauge conversion projects,” he stated.

Highlighting the specifics, the minister noted that the Gwalior-Sheopurkalan narrow gauge track, spanning 188 kilometers, is being converted into broad gauge at a cost of ₹2,355 crore. The newly converted route between Jaura and Kailaras extends 61 kilometers and is expected to enhance the socio-economic landscape of Morena by improving industrial growth, generating employment, and reducing transportation costs and travel time.

Furthermore, Vaishnaw emphasized the integration of modern technology in railway operations, mentioning the use of drones and GPS trackers for disaster management and project oversight. He also announced plans for the redevelopment of Gwalior and Khajuraho railway stations, aimed at improving passenger services and overall connectivity in the state.
