The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) has unveiled a significant security assistance package worth $988 million for Ukraine under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI).
The package includes critical support for Ukraine’s combat efforts, featuring ammunitions for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), and extensive maintenance and repair programs.
According to a statement by the Pentagon, this aid is designed to sustain and strengthen Ukraine’s combat power by providing essential equipment, spare parts, and resources for overhauling artillery systems, tanks, and armored vehicles.
This marks the 22nd security package from the Biden administration under USAI, highlighting sustained U.S. support for Ukraine. The announcement also underscores the broader collaboration between the U.S. and approximately 50 allied nations working under the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.
The aid comes as Ukraine continues to push forward with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s victory plan, which calls for international assistance in defeating Russian forces. Last month, Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs commemorated 1,000 days since the invasion, expressing gratitude for global backing while urging further contributions to its war effort.
