New Delhi, 19th Oct. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) announced on Friday the postponement of the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) for 2025 to allow candidates adequate time for preparation. This decision follows the government’s recent change in the recruitment scheme for Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) officers.
According to an official statement, the government has determined that recruitment for the IRMS will occur through both the Civil Services Examinations and the ESE. As a result, the UPSC has rescheduled the ESE (Preliminary) and ESE (Main) exams. The ESE (Preliminary) will now take place on June 8, 2025, while the ESE (Main) is set for August 10, 2025.
The ESE-2025 notification was released on September 18, 2024, with the application deadline initially set for October 8, 2024. The preliminary test was originally scheduled for February 9, 2025.
With the inclusion of IRMS in the ESE-2025 recruitment process, the UPSC has put the correction window on hold, which was to open on October 9, 2024. Instead, a new application window will be available from October 18 to November 22, 2024, allowing new applicants to apply and enabling previous applicants to make necessary changes.
Following this period, a correction/edit window will be available from November 23 to November 29, 2024, allowing all applicants to modify their details if needed. Candidates who have already applied do not need to reapply but can update their information during the new application and correction windows.
Aspirants are advised to review the updated procedures before submitting their applications for the ESE-2025.
