Bengaluru, 12th Sept. Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy has sharply condemned the attack on a Ganesh idol procession in Mandya district, calling it a ‘failure’ of law and order in Karnataka. He also warned the Congress party of dire consequences if it continues its ‘appeasement politics.’

Kumaraswamy’s remarks came following violent clashes between two groups during a Ganesh procession in Nagamangala town on Wednesday. The JD(S) leader, who represents Mandya in the Lok Sabha, took to social media to denounce the incident, accusing local authorities and the Congress of failing to maintain order.

He alleged that miscreants from a particular community targeted peaceful devotees, throwing stones, slippers, and petrol bombs, and wielding swords. Kumaraswamy criticized the local police for their ineffective response and claimed that such incidents reflect the Congress party’s appeasement tactics for political gain.

The clashes led to vandalism of shops and arson, with the situation now under control following the deployment of additional police forces. Prohibitory orders have been imposed in the area until September 14, and 46 individuals have been arrested in connection with the violence.

Kumaraswamy urged the state government to act swiftly to restore peace and prevent further unrest.
