New Delhi, 12th Sept. The Union Cabinet has approved the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana – IV (PMGSY-IV) for the fiscal years 2024-25 to 2028-29.
The scheme, with a total outlay of ₹70,125 crore, aims to construct 62,500 kilometers of all-weather roads, providing new connectivity to 25,000 previously unconnected habitations and upgrading existing roads and bridges.
The financial allocation includes a central share of ₹49,087.50 crore and a state share of ₹21,037.50 crore.
PMGSY-IV will focus on habitations with populations of 500+ in plains, 250+ in northeastern and hill states, and other special categories, including LWE-affected districts and tribal areas.
The scheme promises significant benefits, including improved access to government services, educational institutions, and markets, fostering socio-economic development in remote areas.
It will incorporate advanced road construction technologies, such as Cold Mix Technology, Waste Plastic, and Full Depth Reclamation, and utilize the PM Gati Shakti portal for planning and project preparation.
