New Delhi, 21st Oct. Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the 8th anniversary of the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme, highlighting its transformative impact on India’s aviation sector. The scheme, launched to make air travel accessible and affordable for all, has significantly boosted regional connectivity and economic growth across the country.
Sharing his thoughts on social media platform X, PM Modi wrote, “Today, we mark #8YearsOfUDAN, an initiative that has transformed India’s aviation sector. From an increase in the number of airports to more air routes, this scheme has ensured crores of people have access to flying. At the same time, it has had a major impact on boosting trade and commerce and furthering regional growth. In the times to come, we will keep strengthening the aviation sector and focusing on even better connectivity and comfort for the people.”
The UDAN scheme has led to the development of numerous airports in remote areas, providing enhanced connectivity, fostering trade, and creating job opportunities. Since its launch, UDAN has bridged the gap between urban centers and rural regions, making air travel a reality for millions of citizens.
As the scheme enters its ninth year, the government remains committed to further expanding aviation infrastructure and improving air travel facilities across the country, ensuring continued growth and prosperity.
