U.S.-India Commercial Dialogue Advances Economic Collaboration

Washington, 5th Oct. U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo and Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal convened the 6th U.S.-India Commercial Dialogue in Washington, D.C. on October 3, 2024.

This meeting highlighted key achievements since the previous session in March 2023, including the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on semiconductor supply chains, which aims to strengthen resilient and sustainable semiconductor ecosystems in both countries.

The leaders discussed the progress of various initiatives, such as the Innovation Handshake MOU, which has successfully brought together U.S. and Indian startup ecosystems, and the U.S.-India Energy Industry Network, which has promoted clean energy collaboration.

Looking ahead, the Secretary and the Minister outlined future priorities, including a new MOU on Critical Minerals aimed at diversifying supply chains, and the launch of the INDUS Innovation initiative to foster energy security and technology advancements.

They also emphasized the importance of supporting women-owned businesses and expanding resources for startups and SMEs in Bengaluru.

As the dialogue continues, both parties expressed their commitment to enhancing economic ties, fostering innovation, and improving supply chain resilience between the U.S. and India.
