Agartala— Tripura’s former Chief Minister and sitting MP in Lok Sabha, Biplab Kumar Deb, welcomed the state budget of the current fiscal year 2025-26, which he described as an important step to speed up the economic growth of the state along with the all-around development.

The budget of ₹32,423.44 crore is a nearly 20% jump from last year’s budget of ₹27,804.67 crore for 2024-25. Deb stressed that this rise is evidence of the government’s commitment towards fulfilling the aspirations of the weakest sections of the state and ramping up development in Tripura.
This budget is a reflection of the state government’s vision to grow under the leadership of Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha. The cabinet’s relentless efforts to ensure the welfare of the people, especially the underprivileged sections, can be seen in this plan,” Deb said in a statement.
Emphasizing the major highlights of the budget, Deb underlined the continued thrust of the state government towards welfare schemes. Of the important announcements, he highlighted a relief package for state government employees and teachers, an extra 3% dearness allowance being among them. Since there are large numbers of state government employees, the decision will come as an economic boost in these times of need, specifically for middle class families and employees in the public sector.
Deb also appreciated the united working of the BJP-IPFT-Tipra Motha government coalition towards building this pro-gressive economic blue print. “The state cabinet, spearheaded by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, has been laboring day and night to ensure development of Tripura. The budget shows the sincerity of effort put in by them,” he added.
Aside from the economic development, Deb pointed out that the budget also places emphasis on developing vital sectors like infrastructure, education, health, and social welfare. The government’s decision to invest in targeted sectors will definitely become a deciding factor in helping resolve Tripura’s development problems, he stated.
As the state gets ready to embark on its next year of economic planning and growth, Deb was optimistic that the new budget would propel Tripura towards a better future with increased opportunities for development and progress for its people. “I welcome Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Finance Minister Pranajit Singh Roy, and all the cabinet colleagues for tabling such a meticulously thought-out and progressive budget. The budget will be a benchmark for Tripura’s progress,” Deb said.
With the budget now in action, everyone is waiting to see how these plans will materialize in the next year, as Tripura seeks to build stronger economic foundations and continue its development process under the current government.
