President Murmu emphasized that secondary agriculture—encompassing value addition to primary agricultural products and activities such as beekeeping, poultry farming, and agricultural tourism—can play a vital role in addressing these issues. She pointed out that agricultural waste could be effectively utilized through secondary agriculture, helping to protect the environment while increasing farmers’ incomes.

The President praised NISA’s initiatives in research and development related to lac, including the establishment of small-scale processing units and the creation of lac-based products such as natural paints and coatings. She expressed hope that these efforts would enhance the living standards of tribal communities.
Murmu acknowledged the era of disruptive technologies and the need to leverage them responsibly. She welcomed the establishment of the Automation and Plant Engineering Division at NISA, focusing on robotics, IoT, and AI-enabled equipment.
While commending NISA’s achievements in lac farming, the President urged further improvements in quality, supply chain, and marketing to meet the demand from the pharmaceuticals and cosmetics industries. She concluded that enhancing these aspects would enable Indian farmers to access better prices domestically and internationally.
