Reshimbagh, 5th Oct. V Shanta Kumari, chief of the RSS-affiliated Rashtra Sevika Samiti, stressed the urgent need for stricter laws to combat the rising tide of crimes against women during the ‘Vijayadashmi Utsav’ program held at Dr. Hedgewar Smruti Mandir. Addressing the gathering, she highlighted the alarming increase in incidents of abuse and violence against women across the country.

Kumari called for collective efforts at both personal and social levels, advocating for immediate action and heightened social awareness. She referenced the horrific rape-murder of a woman doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, pointing out that such barbaric incidents persist even in states led by women chief ministers.

“It is necessary to bring changes in the law so that immediate action can be taken in such incidents,” Kumari emphasized. She urged for the empowerment of individuals through self-protection mechanisms and stressed the importance of instilling values of self-control and respect for women in the youth through education.
