Bathinda: Amid Punjab’s intensified anti-drug drive, a woman constable was caught with 17 grams of heroin and dismissed from service a day later. Acting on a tip-off, Punjab Police and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) intercepted constable Amandeep Kaur’s SUV near the Badal flyover in Bathinda on Wednesday evening.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (City-1) Harbans Singh confirmed that 17.71 grams of heroin were recovered from Kaur’s possession. She was booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Kaur, who was earlier posted with Mansa Police and later attached to Bathinda Police Lines, was reportedly active on Instagram, frequently sharing reels featuring her Thar SUV.
Inspector General of Police Sukhchain Singh Gill stated that Kaur’s dismissal aligns with the Punjab government’s strict policy against drug-related offenses within the force. Mansa Senior Superintendent of Police Bhagirath Meena formally terminated her service after following due procedure. Authorities are also investigating her assets to assess any undisclosed properties. SSP Bathinda Amneet Kondal has been tasked with leading the probe.
