Puducherry, 6th Oct. Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy announced on Sunday that the government will distribute 10 kg of rice and 2 kg of sugar, free of cost, to cardholders through fair price shops before Diwali. This initiative follows requests from various quarters to aid families under the public distribution system (PDS).
The ration shops, closed for months, will reopen for the distribution.
Additionally, unpaid workers at these shops will receive a month’s salary.
The government has finalized tenders for rice and sugar procurement, benefiting approximately three lakh families in the Union Territory.
