Churachandpur, 16th Oct. Authorities in Manipur’s Churachandpur district imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Samhita from Wednesday evening, aiming to prevent potential violence. The order will remain in effect until 5 AM on October 18, 2024, or until further notice.
The decision was based on reports from the superintendent of police, citing concerns over a potential breach of the law-and-order situation that could threaten public peace and stability throughout the town.
The restrictions prohibit unauthorized processions or gatherings of five or more people and the carrying of arms or items that could be used as weapons, including sticks, rods, and stones.
A district official emphasized that the move was a precautionary measure to avoid potential clashes among volunteers or groups in Churachandpur town. The order aims to maintain order during this period of heightened tension.
