Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, 27th Sept. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday expressed his concerns regarding the current state of politics, emphasizing that it should be synonymous with social service, nation-building, and development rather than merely power politics. He made these remarks during the felicitation of Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagade on Friday.
“Politics does not face the problem of differences of opinion, but rather an absence of thoughts,” Gadkari stated. He asserted that the original meaning of politics is ‘samajkaran, rashtrakaran, and vikaskaran’ (social service, nation-building, and development). However, he lamented that today’s definition has devolved into ‘sattakaran’ (power politics).
Recalling his early days as an RSS worker, Gadkari shared, “We faced many hurdles without recognition or respect. Haribhau Bagade worked with dedication for the welfare of the people. I spent 20 long years as a party worker in Vidarbha, where I faced hostility, even having stones thrown at our rallies. During the post-emergency period, the autorickshaw I used for announcements was set ablaze.”
He noted the change in reception he now receives, stating, “Thousands of people come to listen to me, but this popularity is not mine. It is a testament to the hard work and sacrifices made by dedicated party workers like Haribhau Bagade.”
Gadkari concluded by emphasizing the qualities of a good party worker, stating, “A good party worker behaves well even when not receiving anything in return. Those who gain rewards tend to behave well naturally.”
