Prayagraj, 5th Feb. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today took a boat ride to the Sangam in Prayagraj to attend the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. As the Prime Minister waved at thousands of devotees gathered for the festival, his visit highlighted the significance of this global spiritual gathering.
The Maha Kumbh, which began on January 13, is the world’s largest spiritual gathering and will continue until February 26, 2025. Millions of devotees from around the world have been taking part in various rituals, prayers, and religious discourses. Prime Minister Modi’s visit follows his recent inauguration of 167 development projects worth Rs 5,500 crore in Prayagraj on December 13.
This year’s Maha Kumbh has received attention not only for its spiritual significance but also for large-scale investments in infrastructure, including roads, sanitation, security, and digital services to ensure a smooth experience for visitors.
In another notable visit, Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk also attended the festival, participating in several spiritual activities. Accompanied by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Bhutanese monarch visited the Lete Hanuman Mandir and explored the Digital Mahakumbh Experience Centre, where he observed the fusion of spirituality and modernity.
The Bhutanese King also visited the Shri Akshayvat Ji, an indestructible banyan tree in Prayagraj, revered in Hindu mythology.
