PM Modi Strengthens Global Ties with Key Development Projects in Mauritius and Beyond

Published:

Mauritius: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reaffirmed India’s commitment to global development by supporting crucial infrastructure, healthcare, and connectivity projects worldwide. In Mauritius, he will inaugurate the Civil Service College and an Area Health Centre, both constructed with India’s grant assistance. These initiatives reflect India’s dedication to strengthening Mauritius’ administrative and healthcare capabilities, fostering long-term growth and capacity building.

PM Modi’s leadership has seen India emerge as a trusted development partner across multiple nations. In Bhutan, India financed and developed the Gyaltsuen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck Mother and Child Hospital, with its second phase completed in 2024. In Bangladesh, PM Modi jointly inaugurated the Akhaura-Agartala Cross-Border Rail Link, the Khulna-Mongla Port Rail Line, and the Maitree Super Thermal Power Plant Unit II in 2023.

Strengthening cross-border connectivity, India helped construct Nepal’s first broad-gauge railway, the Jayanagar-Kurtha link. In Seychelles, the Magistrates’ Court in Victoria was built with Indian grant assistance, marking India’s first infrastructure project in the island nation.

PM Modi has also extended India’s support to Afghanistan, inaugurating the Afghan-India Friendship Dam in 2016 and the Afghan Parliament Building in 2015. His ‘neighbourhood first’ policy was evident in Sri Lanka, where he laid the foundation stone for the Jaffna Cultural Centre, later inaugurated in 2022.

India’s development assistance under PM Modi focuses on sustainability, capacity building, and mutual growth rather than conditional aid. These projects reflect India’s expanding global influence and its role as a responsible development partner, strengthening diplomatic and economic ties worldwide.
