Wilmington, 22nd Sept. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the QUAD Cancer Moonshot Programme, lauded the collaborative efforts of the QUAD nations to tackle cervical cancer and reiterated India’s commitment to affordable and accessible healthcare. He thanked U.S. President Joe Biden for hosting the event and underscored the importance of cooperation in cancer care.
Highlighting India’s efforts, PM Modi shared that the country runs a cost-effective cervical cancer screening program and is home to the world’s largest health insurance scheme. He also emphasized India’s development of a cervical cancer vaccine and the use of AI in new treatment protocols.
“India is ready to share its experience and expertise,” said PM Modi. He announced India’s contribution of $7.5 million worth of sampling kits, detection kits, and vaccines under the QUAD Moonshot initiative, along with radiotherapy treatment and capacity-building support.
PM Modi further announced that India would contribute 40 million vaccine doses under QUAD and GAVI initiatives for Indo-Pacific countries, expressing confidence that these doses will bring hope to millions of lives.
“When the QUAD acts, it is not just for nations – it is for the people. This is the true essence of our human-centric approach,” Modi concluded.
