rime Minister Narendra Modi met Kuwait’s Foreign Minister, Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, on Wednesday, reaffirming India’s commitment to strengthening the long-standing relationship between the two nations. The meeting emphasized advancing bilateral ties in areas such as trade, energy, and people-to-people exchanges.

Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi praised Kuwait’s leadership for prioritizing the welfare of Indian nationals residing in the Gulf nation. “Glad to receive Foreign Minister of Kuwait H.E. Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya. I thank the Kuwaiti leadership for the welfare of the Indian nationals. India is committed to advance our deep-rooted and historical ties for the benefit of our people and the region,” he posted.

Bilateral Talks with External Affairs Minister
Earlier in the day, Kuwait’s Foreign Minister held discussions with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, during which they reviewed the full spectrum of India-Kuwait relations. The discussions touched on key areas such as trade, investment, energy cooperation, food security, and cultural and consular ties.

Highlighting Kuwait’s successful presidency of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jaishankar congratulated Al-Yahya and expressed gratitude for Kuwait’s care of the Indian diaspora. “Our two countries, enjoy long-standing friendship, and in our case, centuries old. We are committed to strengthening our bilateral ties across various domains,” Jaishankar stated.
He also recalled Prime Minister Modi’s recent meeting with Kuwait’s Grand Prince on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, describing it as a significant step that injected fresh momentum into bilateral relations.

Kuwait’s Foreign Minister, Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, lauded India as a “very important partner” and expressed enthusiasm for elevating the bilateral relationship to a strategic partnership. He described his meeting with PM Modi as highly meaningful and praised the Prime Minister for his visionary leadership.
“Prime Minister Modi is one of the wisest person worldwide. Prime Minister put India in a better level. And I’m sure he will continue for that,” Al-Yahya remarked.
