Hazaribag, 2nd Oct. In a major boost for tribal welfare, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various projects worth over ₹80,000 crore in Hazaribag, Jharkhand, on Wednesday.
The Prime Minister launched the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, aimed at benefiting 63,000 tribal villages across approximately 550 districts. He also inaugurated 40 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) and laid the foundation stone for 25 additional schools, along with multiple initiatives under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN).
During his address, Prime Minister Modi expressed gratitude for participating in Jharkhand’s development journey and recalled a recent visit to Jamshedpur where he inaugurated significant development projects. He emphasized that today’s initiatives highlight the government’s commitment to tribal empowerment and welfare.
Noting the significance of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, Modi reiterated that the progress of tribal societies is crucial for India’s overall advancement. He stressed the importance of the Dharti Aaba Janjati Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, which aims to enhance the socio-economic conditions of tribal communities and reach over 5 crore individuals nationwide. The initiative is designed to develop tribal-dominated villages and improve access to essential services.
The Prime Minister mentioned that the Abhiyan was inaugurated in honor of Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s legacy, with plans to celebrate the first anniversary of the PM-Janman Yojana on January 15, 2024. This scheme, launched in Jharkhand, focuses on delivering essential services like education, health, and infrastructure to previously neglected tribal areas.
Highlighting the successes of the PM-Janman Yojana, Modi noted that water access had been established for every household in over 950 backward villages and that 35 Vandhan Vikas Kendras had been approved in the state. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of education and opportunities for tribal youth, stating that the government is committed to building Eklavya residential schools equipped with modern facilities.
In conclusion, Prime Minister Modi expressed confidence in the capabilities of tribal youth and the positive impact of these initiatives on the nation’s progress. The event was attended by the Governor of Jharkhand, Shri Santosh Gangwar, and Minister of Tribal Affairs, Shri Jual Oram, among other dignitaries.
