Marathwada, 30th Sept. In a significant move for India’s industrial development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the Bidkin Industrial Area (BIA) in Maharashtra to the nation on SUnday. The virtual event was attended in Pune by Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and other dignitaries.
The Bidkin Industrial Area, developed under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP) as part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, spans 7,855 acres and is expected to catalyze economic growth in the Marathwada region.
Key Highlights of the Project:
- Strategic Location: BIA is strategically located near NH-752E, 35 km from the Samruddhi Mahamarg, and close to major transport hubs, ensuring seamless multi-modal connectivity.
- Phased Development: The project, approved at a total cost of ₹6,414 crore, will be developed in three phases, with an initial investment of ₹2,427 crore for Phase A covering 2,511 acres.
- Infrastructure Readiness: Equipped with wide roads, reliable water and power supply, and advanced sewage treatment plants, BIA is ready for the allotment of industrial plots.
Major Investments and Economic Impact
Notable companies, including Ather Energy, Lubrizol, Toyota-Kirloskar, and JSW Green Mobility, have committed to investments totaling ₹56,200 crore, creating over 30,000 jobs. In just three years, 1,822 acres have been allotted across industrial and mixed-use zones.

The dedication of the Bidkin Industrial Area aligns with the government’s vision of “Make in India, Make for the World,” promoting industrial growth and sustainable development. Prime Minister Modi stated that Bidkin will serve as a beacon of industrial excellence, enhancing employment opportunities and boosting exports while contributing to the region’s overall development.
