PM Modi Approves Ex-Gratia for Kaithal Road Accident Victims

New Delhi, 12th Oct. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced an ex-gratia payment for the victims of a tragic road accident in Kaithal, Haryana.

The Prime Minister approved a compensation of ₹2 lakhs from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each deceased individual. Additionally, those injured in the mishap will receive ₹50,000 each.

The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed the decision in a post on X, stating, “The Prime Minister has approved an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakhs from PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased in the mishap in Kaithal, Haryana. The injured would be given ₹50,000 each.”

In a tragic accident on Saturday, three women and four girls from the same family lost their lives when their car plunged into a canal near Mundri village in Kaithal district, police reported. The incident occurred as the family was en route to attend the Baba Rajpuri Mela, which is held during Dussehra celebrations.

The vehicle was carrying nine people, including eight family members, when the driver reportedly lost control, causing the car to veer off the road and into the canal. Although the driver was rescued, seven occupants, including four young girls, drowned in the incident. A 12-year-old girl named Komal remains missing, with search efforts underway, according to police.
