Ahmedabad, 6th Feb.
A plane carrying 33 individuals from Gujarat, part of a group of 104 Indians deported from the US for illegal immigration, landed at Ahmedabad airport from Amritsar on Thursday morning.

The deported immigrants, including women and children, were escorted by police vehicles to their native places in Gujarat after their arrival, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police, ‘G’ division, R D Oza.

Speaking to reporters, Oza confirmed, “The plane carrying 33 Gujarati immigrants landed in the morning. We deployed police vehicles to transport them to their respective places.” The deported immigrants chose not to speak to the media and were promptly taken to their native districts, including Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Patan, Vadodara, and Kheda.

The group of 104 Indian immigrants, including the 33 from Gujarat, had arrived on a US military aircraft at Amritsar airport on Wednesday.

Family members of the deportees claimed ignorance of how their loved ones ended up in the US. Former state Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel expressed sympathy, emphasizing that the deported Gujaratis had gone abroad in search of employment or career opportunities and should not be labeled as criminals.

Deputy Inspector General of Police, CID-Crime, Parikshita Rathod, stated that the police would not question the deportees at this time.
