New Delhi, 27th Sept. Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Friday said that peace is best maintained from a position of strength, highlighting the critical importance of national security amid global geopolitical shifts.

He made these remarks while addressing participants at the inaugural International Strategic Engagement Programme (IN-STEP) at the Vice-President’s Enclave.

Dhankhar underscored that global peace is the foundation for sustainable development, and the evolving global threats, including climate change, pandemics, and cyber crimes, require multilateral cooperation.

He also stressed the role of emerging technologies, such as machine learning, in countering harmful narratives and promoting global security.

The IN-STEP programme, a collaboration between the National Security Council Secretariat, Ministry of External Affairs, and Ministry of Defence, aims to foster international partnerships to address pressing security challenges.

The event featured 27 international delegates from 21 countries alongside 11 senior Indian military and civil officers.
