Lucknow ,January 6, 2025, OYO, a leading hotel booking platform, has announced a new check-in policy for its partner hotels in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The policy restricts unmarried couples from booking rooms unless they can provide valid proof of their relationship, such as a marriage certificate.
The change, which is currently limited to Meerut, comes in response to local social and cultural feedback. OYO stated that the decision was made to align with community sentiments while ensuring compliance with the preferences of property owners in the area.
This policy marks a departure from OYO’s typically inclusive stance, which allows unmarried couples to book rooms with proper identification. The platform clarified that the restriction is specific to Meerut and does not apply to its properties in other cities.
