Bhubaneswar, 5th Jan. The Odisha government has opened a central command control centre to coordinate with the expected 7,000 Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) attending the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas starting January 8. The centre, set up to provide assistance and information, can be reached by dialing 1929, with an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system to handle event-specific queries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the event on January 9, while President Droupadi Murmu will address the gathering on January 10. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida confirmed that all state departments are prepared for the event. “As of now, 2,500 NRIs have registered, and guides speaking Odia, Hindi, and English will assist at 31 tourist destinations,” she stated.

For ensuring security and smooth operations, the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack commissionerate police has deployed over 40 platoons, with 100 Pravasi Mitra (volunteers) supporting traffic management throughout the event.
