Nagpur Violence and Political Storm in Maharashtra: A Tale of Terror, Betrayal, and Political Shifts

Published:

Nagpur: The violence in Nagpur, where the mastermind has been apprehended by the police. The mastermind has revealed several shocking secrets, leaving everyone astonished. Multiple FIRs have been filed, and six FIRs have already been registered across three police stations, with over 1250 people named in these FIRs. Around 100 to 200 of these individuals have been identified, and the police’s cyber unit is investigating people spreading viral videos on social media. The police are also analyzing footage from about 100 to 150 CCTV cameras.

From the footage gathered, it’s evident that the rioters carried out brutal actions on the streets, targeting vehicles and setting fire to shops. The police have now taken strong action against these individuals. The Nagpur violence has also been linked to a terrorist angle. It is believed that the entire riot was planned similarly to disturbances in Kashmir, where a mob suddenly gathered, and the rioters were hiding their identities under clothing, following a stone-pelting pattern. Additionally, the police have released 66 videos showing how the mob was incited. Maharashtra’s Anti-Terrorist Squad has now joined the investigation, and officers suspect that the riot’s mastermind was merely a pawn, with a larger terrorist organization possibly behind the planning. Authorities believe the riots were organized using sleeper cells, and social media played a key role in mobilizing the crowd. Investigators are focusing on funding sources for the riots, identifying who paid to organize the crowd, and examining the role of a religious leader or a madrasa in this plot. The police have arrested more than 100 people and are continuing to gather evidence through CCTV footage and viral videos.

However, some members pointed out the contradiction, suggesting that if the RSS was serious about its stance, they should hold the government accountable for inflammatory statements.

The issue of Aurangzeb’s legacy continues to stir debate. BJP leaders, including Maharashtra’s Deputy CM, have called for the removal of Aurangzeb’s tomb, drawing a parallel with how the U.S. disposed of Osama bin Laden’s body. Meanwhile, there were intense arguments in the state assembly between Eknath Shinde and Anil Parab regarding the comparison of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s governance to Aurangzeb’s rule, with Shinde defending his stance by referring to the cruelty of Aurangzeb and the treatment of Maratha rulers.

Meanwhile, political dynamics in Maharashtra continue to shift. Uddhav Thackeray’s party, Shiv Sena, has faced a significant blow with several of its leaders defecting to the BJP, including former municipal presidents and committee members. This includes prominent figures like Kishore Nimbalkar and Rajendra Chaudhary from Jalgaon, who joined BJP in a ceremony attended by BJP ministers. This is a major setback for Thackeray as these leaders’ defections has weakened his political base, especially after a poor showing in the Maharashtra Assembly elections in 2024.

On top of that, there is ongoing controversy regarding the Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece, ‘Saamana’, which criticized the BJP over the Aurangzeb issue. The publication called out Devendra Fadnavis for seemingly glorifying Aurangzeb and questioned why such historical figures are being honored.

Additionally, in a major revelation, the cyber cell uncovered a Facebook account linked to Bangladesh that allegedly played a role in inciting violence in Nagpur. The account was used to send threats, and the violence that ensued resulted in widespread destruction, including vehicle fires and property damage. As a result, authorities are working to track down and apprehend those responsible for the disturbances.

There is once again a stir in Maharashtra politics. Uddhav Thackeray is putting his full effort into the BMC elections in Mumbai, while, on the other hand, several leaders of his party are leaving him. In Jalgaon, three former municipal presidents, two former heads of the Panchayat committee, and several other office bearers have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In fact, Thackeray faction’s Deputy District Chief, Dashrath Mahajan, former municipal presidents Kishore Nimbalkar, Rajendra Chaudhary, and former municipal councilors joined the BJP. This event took place in Mumbai at the BJP office, in the presence of Minister Girish Mahajan and Party President Ravindra Chavan, where leaders from Uddhav Thackeray’s faction joined the BJP.
