Tikamgarh, 3rd Feb. In a bizarre turn of events, a man in Madhya Pradesh’s Tikamgarh district demanded half of his father’s dead body following a dispute with his brother over the last rites. The incident took place on Sunday in Lidhorataal village, located about 45 km from the district headquarters, prompting the intervention of the police.
The conflict arose after Dhyani Singh Ghosh (84), who had been ill for some time, passed away at his residence, where he lived with his younger son, Deshraj. Upon receiving news of the death, the elder son, Kishan, who lived outside the village, arrived to find a disagreement brewing.
Kishan insisted on performing the last rites, but Deshraj claimed that it was their father’s final wish for him to handle the cremation. The situation escalated when Kishan, reportedly inebriated, demanded that the body be divided in half, with each brother taking a portion.
Villagers alerted the police, and Jatara police station in-charge Arvind Singh Dangi said the authorities intervened swiftly. They were able to convince Kishan to leave the scene, allowing Deshraj to carry out the cremation. The situation was defused without further incident.
