All eyes were on the return of star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah when he stepped out at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in today’s Mumbai Indians (MI) vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clash in IPL 2025. After being sidelined since January due to a back injury, Bumrah finally joined the MI camp a few days ago.

But the return for the MI pacer did not go as planned, as he went wicketless for 29 runs in four overs. It was an economical spell at 7.25 runs per over, but the wicket column remained blank — and that’s what made MI fans frustrated. Bumrah did not have a good start, conceding 10 runs in his first over. RCB’s Virat Kohli welcomed him with a six and put him on the back foot straight away.
Jasprit Bumrah conceded only eight runs in his last over
Then, in the next two overs, he used his variations and made a strong comeback, conceding only 11 runs. In the last over, Jitesh Sharma hit him for a six over long-on, but still, he conceded only eight runs in that over. On the last delivery of his spell, the umpire gave Jitesh LBW, but he took the DRS and the decision was ultimately overturned. The ball’s impact was found to be outside the line, and hence, he remained not out.
Considering the fact that MI conceded 221/5 in 20 overs at a run rate of over 11, Bumrah’s four-over spell at an economy of 7.25 was a good one. But he failed to take any wickets, and for that, RCB batters need to be credited for the way they played him. While targeting other bowlers, they played him cautiously and ultimately reached the 221-run mark on the board.
