MCD to Open Night Market Near Salimgarh Fort, Vendors to Operate Daily from 6-10 PM

Published:

New Delhi: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is set to launch a night market near Salimgarh Fort next month, offering a dedicated space for street vendors to sell food from 6 PM to 10 PM daily. The initiative aims to utilize public space efficiently while preventing encroachments.

In a statement, MCD officials clarified that the market will feature no permanent structures. Vendors must bring and remove their carts daily, ensuring flexibility and preventing unauthorized settlements.

The application process for vendors is already open, with the deadline set for April 11. Following the screening process, the market is expected to open by May 11.

To enhance the visitor experience, the MCD plans decorative lighting, improved sanitation, and waste management. Around 50 vending spots will be available each evening, with vendors required to pay a municipal and sanitation fee.

This move is expected to support local entrepreneurs while offering residents and tourists an organized and vibrant dining experience near a historic landmark.
