Mumbai, 3rd Jan. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that the state attracted Rs 1.13 lakh crore in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) during the first half of the financial year 2024-25, nearly matching the state’s annual FDI inflow over the last four years.
In a post on X, Fadnavis revealed that the state received a total of Rs 1,13,236 crore in FDI between April and September 2024. To put this in perspective, Maharashtra’s FDI figures for the past four years were as follows: Rs 1,19,734 crore in 2020-21, Rs 1,14,964 crore in 2021-22, Rs 1,18,422 crore in 2022-23, and Rs 1,25,101 crore in 2023-24.
“This means that Maharashtra has received 94.71% of its average annual FDI over the last four years in just six months,” Fadnavis stated.
The chief minister also emphasized that the state government, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, along with other cabinet colleagues, would ensure that this growth trajectory continues.
This announcement comes in the wake of a fierce election campaign in the state, where opposition parties had accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of diverting investment opportunities meant for Maharashtra to other states, particularly Gujarat.
