Prayagraj, 13th Jan. The Maha Kumbh 2025 commenced on Monday with the auspicious ‘Shahi Snan’ on Paush Purnima, attracting a sea of humanity to the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers. Among the millions seeking spiritual liberation, a large number of international visitors added a global dimension to the world’s largest religious gathering.

International Devotees at Sangam
Michael, a former U.S. Army soldier turned ascetic, now known as ‘Baba Mokshapuri’, shared his transformation story. “I was an ordinary man with a family and career, but I realised nothing in life is permanent. This is my first Maha Kumbh, and the spiritual vibes are extraordinary,” said Michael, who now propagates Sanatan Dharma with the Juna Akhara.

Other foreign attendees included South Korean YouTubers documenting the event, Japanese tourists learning Indian traditions, and European pilgrims soaking in the spiritual fervor. Christina from Spain called the event “a wonderful moment, unlike anything I’ve ever seen.”

Brazilian yoga practitioner Shiku described India as the “spiritual heart of the world,” expressing gratitude for experiencing this Maha Kumbh, which occurs once every 144 years. French journalist Melanie termed the festival a “once-in-a-lifetime experience,” captivated by the vibrant fair and interactions with sadhus.

A Testimony to Faith and Culture
While some international visitors braved the freezing waters for the holy dip, others, like Valeria from Italy, opted out due to the cold but expressed admiration for the festival’s energy. “The atmosphere is exciting and full of good vibes,” she said.

The Uttar Pradesh government anticipates a turnout of 40-45 crore people during the festival, which runs until February 26. Extensive preparations have been made to ensure the smooth conduct of this spiritual mega-event, showcasing India’s unparalleled faith and cultural richness.

The Maha Kumbh 2025 has transformed Prayagraj into a confluence of global faith, highlighting the timeless appeal of India’s spiritual heritage and its resonance with humanity across borders.
