Kolkata, 7th Oct. A woman civic volunteer of the Kolkata Police has accused a sub-inspector of sexually assaulting her inside the Park Street Police Station, leading to a departmental inquiry, as confirmed by a police officer.
The alleged incident occurred on October 5, around 1:10 am. According to the complainant, the accused sub-inspector called her to the restroom on the fourth floor of the police station under the pretext of offering her clothes as a gift for Durga Puja. It was during this time that the alleged molestation took place, as per her complaint.
The woman has been serving as a civic volunteer at the Park Street Police Station since her appointment in 2017. After the officers at the Park Street station allegedly refused to accept her complaint, she forwarded it to the Kolkata Police headquarters at Lalbazar and the Deputy Commissioner (DC) South’s office.
A senior officer confirmed that an investigation is underway into the allegations. “We are probing into her complaint,” he stated, adding that a departmental inquiry has been initiated to address the charges against the sub-inspector.
