Jammu, 3rd Jan. Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, on Thursday released the book “Jammu Kashmir & Ladakh Through the Ages: A Visual Narrative of Continuities and Linkages” in New Delhi. The event, attended by Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Indian Council of Historical Research Chairman Prof. Raghuvendra Tanwar, underscored the cultural and historic importance of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh within India’s national fabric.
In his address, Shah emphasized the Modi government’s commitment to reviving Kashmir’s historic and cultural heritage. He asserted that the book dismantles myths about Kashmir’s history, presenting evidence of its enduring unity with India. Shah firmly stated, “Kashmir was, is, and will always be an integral part of India.”
The Home Minister highlighted the Modi government’s achievements, including the abrogation of Article 370, which he said had perpetuated separatism and terrorism. Since its removal in 2019, Kashmir has witnessed a 70% decline in terrorist incidents, increased democratic participation, and record-breaking tourism. Shah also noted advancements in infrastructure, such as the world’s largest railway arch bridge and new educational institutions.
Shah urged historians to embrace a fact-based approach to Indian history, moving beyond colonial-era narratives. He lauded the book’s documentation of Kashmir’s 8,000-year-old cultural heritage, emphasizing its role as a hub of Shaivism, Buddhism, and inclusivity.
The Minister concluded with confidence in Kashmir’s future, asserting that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the region is reclaiming its ancient glory and contributing to India’s cultural and democratic progress.
