Hyderabad, 25th Sept. A recent misunderstanding between Tamil actor Karthi and actor-politician Pawan Kalyan regarding a comment on the alleged adulteration of Tirupati laddoos has been amicably resolved. Pawan Kalyan, who is the deputy chief minister of Andhra Pradesh and the chief of Jana Sena, accepted Karthi’s apology and extended his best wishes for the actor’s upcoming film. Karthi and his brother, Suriya Sivakumar, expressed their gratitude in response.
The controversy began on Monday when Karthi, attending an event in Hyderabad, was asked to react to memes, including one on laddoos. With the ongoing controversy surrounding Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s allegation that animal fat had been used in making the famous Tirupati laddoos under the previous YSR Congress government, Karthi remarked that the laddoo issue should not be discussed as it was sensitive.
Pawan Kalyan, a staunch ally of Naidu’s TDP under the NDA alliance and currently undertaking a ‘Prayaschitta Diksha’ (penance) over the alleged adulteration, took offense to the comment. He warned Karthi not to trivialize such issues and urged public figures to be more cautious when speaking about matters related to Sanatana Dharma.
In response, Karthi publicly apologized to Kalyan on X (formerly Twitter), clarifying his respect for Lord Venkateswara, the deity of the Tirupati temple, and his reverence for traditions. Kalyan responded by acknowledging Karthi’s sincerity and wished him success for his upcoming movie, Meiyazhagan, which is produced by Suriya Sivakumar.
Pawan Kalyan wrote on X, “I sincerely appreciate your kind gesture and swift response… Matters concerning sacred institutions like Tirupati carry deep emotional weight for millions of devotees, and it’s essential to handle such topics with care.”
Karthi and Suriya both thanked Kalyan for his heartfelt wishes. However, Kalyan remains in a public feud with actor Prakash Raj over the same laddoo controversy. While Prakash Raj has criticized Kalyan for allegedly stoking communal tensions, Kalyan has defended his stance, challenging Raj’s comments on his secularism.
