US Vice President and Democratic Presidential nominee Kamala Harris on Saturday accepted an invitation from CNN to debate former President Donald Trump on October 23, said her campaign.
By accepting the debate on CNN, Harris has challenged her rival to another engagement on a public stage in the final weeks of the campaign.
“Donald Trump should have no problem agreeing to this debate. It is the same format and setup as the CNN debate he attended and said he won in June, when he praised CNN’s moderators, rules, and ratings,” campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon said in a statement.
According to reports, the October debate would mirror the first 2024 presidential debate in June between Trump and President Joe Biden, taking place at CNN’s studios in Atlanta, according to the network.
More details awaited.
