Kathua, 28th Sept. A head constable of Jammu and Kashmir Police was killed, and an assistant sub-inspector was injured during an encounter with terrorists in Kog-Mandli village, Billawar tehsil, on Saturday evening. The encounter began around 5:30 PM as security forces launched a joint cordon and search operation based on intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the area.
According to officials, the initial exchange of gunfire was brief but intensified as both sides engaged in heavy fire. Reports indicate that the situation remained active, with the police reinforcements arriving from nearby security camps to strengthen the operation.
“Based on specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists, a joint search operation was launched by security forces at village Kog. Contact has been established, and a few rounds have been fired from both sides,” a police official stated.
The area has been cordoned off tightly, and efforts are ongoing to neutralize the threat posed by the terrorists. Further updates will follow as the situation develops.
