ISKCON To Observe Worldwide Prayers On December 1 Amid Attacks On Hindus In Bangladesh

Published:

Followers of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) around the world will come together on December 1 to “pray and chant” for the safety and security of religious minorities in Bangladesh, with a particular focus on Hindus.

“On Sunday, December 1st, millions of ISKCON devotees from over 150 countries and many cities and towns will unite to pray and chant for the safety and security of religious minorities in Bangladesh. We encourage you to join your local #ISKCON temple or congregation,” stated Radharamn Das, a spokesperson for ISKCON Kolkata, on X.

ISKCON issued this appeal in response to widespread protests in Bangladesh after the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, a former ISKCON member, on sedition charges. He was denied bail on Tuesday.

The protests, primarily organized by the Hindu community, have been seen in several cities across Bangladesh, including Dhaka and Chattogram.

On October 30, a sedition case was lodged at Chattogram’s Kotwali Police Station against 19 people, including Chinmoy Krishna Das. They were accused of dishonoring Bangladesh’s national flag during a Hindu rally in the New Market area of Chattogram.
