India’s Flag Captivates Chilean President; PM Modi Explains The Ashok Chakra’s Legacy

Published:

Chilean President Gabriel Boric Font, who is on a five-day visit to India, engaged in a thoughtful exchange with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House, showing keen interest in the symbolism of the Ashok Chakra on the Indian national flag.

While making his way to the discussion room, Boric paused near the flag and inquired about the central wheel’s significance. In response, PM Modi elaborated on its historical and philosophical importance.

The Ashok Chakra, depicted in navy blue at the center of the flag’s white band, is inspired by the Dharma Chakra from Emperor Ashoka’s Lion Capital at Sarnath. Representing the eternal cycle of law and righteousness, the 24-spoke wheel emphasizes the principle of continuous progress. The saffron color symbolizes strength and courage, the white band stands for peace and truth, while the green signifies growth and prosperity.

President Boric’s visit to India, taking place from April 1 to April 5 at PM Modi’s invitation, aims to strengthen diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between the two nations. Accompanied by a high-profile delegation, including government officials, business leaders, and cultural representatives, Boric is expected to engage in discussions covering trade, investment, and strategic collaboration.
