New York, 23rd Sept. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a vibrant gathering of over 15,000 members of the Indian community in Long Island, New York, on Saturday. The event showcased the warmth and enthusiasm of the Indian diaspora, reflecting their integral role in strengthening India-US relations.
During his address, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the significance of the Indian American community in fostering ties between the two democracies. He recalled his recent meeting with President Biden, highlighting it as a testament to the trust built by the Indian community.
PM Modi shared his vision for a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047, marking his historic third term with a commitment to advancing India’s progress. He cited transformative achievements over the past decade, including significant poverty reduction, economic growth, and advancements in infrastructure.
The Prime Minister underscored the government’s dedication to reforms aligned with public aspirations, spotlighting the country’s innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital empowerment. He also praised the grassroots impact of women-led development and green initiatives.
Additionally, PM Modi announced plans to establish two new Indian consulates in Boston and Los Angeles and a Thiruvalluvar Chair of Tamil studies at the University of Houston, further enhancing ties between India and its diaspora.
He concluded by expressing confidence that the Indian community would continue to strengthen the bond between India and the United States.
