India Strengthens Agri Ties with Global Partners During G20 Ministerial in Brazil

Cuiabá, 16th Sept. On the sidelines of the G20 Agriculture Ministerial Meeting held in Cuiabá, Brazil, on September 12-13, 2024, India engaged in bilateral discussions with the USA, Brazil, Germany, UK, Japan, Spain, and the UAE.

The Indian delegation was led by Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Ram Nath Thakur, alongside Ambassador to Brazil Suresh Reddy and Joint Secretary Franklin L. Khobung.

During the meeting with Japan’s Minister of Agriculture, Thakur emphasized technology collaboration and market access for Indian pomegranates and grapes, while Japan sought access for its cedar. Similarly, in discussions with Brazil’s Minister of Agriculture, the focus was on science, technology cooperation, and ethanol production.

India and the US agreed to advance climate-smart agriculture and productivity growth, while Germany highlighted agroecology and Artificial Intelligence in farming.
