Barcelona: Minister for Communications, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, visited the prestigious Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona, Spain, where he engaged in top-level meetings with global CEOs, addressed key sessions, and witnessed groundbreaking technological innovations in the mobile and telecommunications industry.

This year’s MWC 2025, themed “Converge. Connect. Create.”, is bringing together over 101,000 attendees, 2,700 exhibitors, and leaders from 200+ countries to showcase the latest advancements in 5G, AI, IoT, and digital transformation. India’s participation at this global event underscores its leadership in telecom innovation and commitment to shaping the future of digital connectivity.

India’s Telecom Transformation Takes Center Stage

During his visit, Shri Scindia highlighted India’s remarkable telecom transformation, showcasing the country’s rapid 5G rollout, world’s lowest data tariffs, indigenous 4G/5G stacks, and robust cybersecurity measures. India’s telecom success has positioned it as a global leader in digital connectivity, innovation, and policy governance.

Addressing two key sessions, ‘Global Tech Governance: Rising to the Challenge’ and ‘Balancing Innovation & Regulation: Global Perspectives on Telecom Policy’, Shri Scindia emphasized that “Innovation, Inclusivity, Sustainability & Trust” form the core of India’s guiding principles in technology governance. He highlighted the success of Aadhaar and BharatNet, which have played a crucial role in ensuring digital access for every citizen.

The Minister outlined India’s four-step approach to balancing innovation with regulation, focusing on:

  1. Effective spectrum management
  2. Ensuring market stability
  3. Introducing telecom regulations to streamline processes
  4. Strengthening cybersecurity measures for consumer protection

India Mobile Congress 2025 & Bharat Pavilion Inauguration

As part of the MWC 2025 visit, Shri Scindia also unveiled the curtains for India Mobile Congress 2025 and inaugurated the Bharat Pavilion, organized by the Telecom Equipment & Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC) with the support of the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India.

The Bharat Pavilion featured 38 leading Indian telecom equipment manufacturers, showcasing their latest hardware and software solutions. In a major milestone, Shri Scindia inaugurated VVDN’s indigenously designed and manufactured AI-based Wi-Fi 7 at the Bharat Pavilion, reinforcing India’s capability in cutting-edge telecom technology.

High-Level Engagements with Global Telecom Leaders

During his visit, Shri Scindia engaged in strategic discussions with top industry leaders from Qualcomm, Cisco, Mavenir, Ericsson, Nokia, AMD, AT&T, Airtel, BSNL, CDOT, and TEPC. A high-profile CEO dinner provided a platform for strengthening partnerships, exploring collaborations, and advancing innovation in telecom.

In addition, bilateral meetings with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and visits to global tech booths, including Meta and Google Cloud, allowed the Minister to explore next-generation advancements in 5G, AI, and mobile connectivity.
