Kazan, 14th Sept. The BRICS Literature Forum 2024, held in Kazan, Russia, commenced on September 11, 2024, with an opening ceremony led by Mayor Ilsur Metshin.
This year’s theme, “World literature in the new reality: Dialogue of traditions, national values, and cultures,” brings together a diverse group of writers, poets, philosophers, artists, and scholars from BRICS nations.
India is represented by Sri Madhav Kaushik, President of Sahitya Akademi, and Dr. K. Sreenivasarao, Secretary of Sahitya Akademi.
During the plenary session, Kaushik emphasized the role of literature in fostering unity and cooperation among global societies. He highlighted how literature transcends borders and helps bridge cultural divides.
In a separate event titled “Meet the Authors from India,” moderated by Evgeniy Abdullaev, Dr. Sreenivasarao discussed the significance of river-based cultures in promoting multiculturalism, while Kaushik compared traditional literature from India and Russia, focusing on the shared cultural values embedded within.
