Lyon, 17th Sept. India made a significant impact at the WorldSkills Lyon 2024 competition, securing a total of 16 awards, including 4 Bronze Medals and 12 Medallions of Excellence. The event, which saw participation from over 1,400 competitors across 70 countries, highlighted India’s prowess in both innovative and traditional skill sets.
The Indian delegation excelled in various categories, earning Bronze Medals in Patisserie and Confectionery, Industry 4.0 (Team Skill), Hotel Reception, and Renewable Energy. Notable winners included Ashwitha Police, who received the Best of Nation Award for her outstanding performance in Patisserie and Confectionery. Her success is a testament to the growing recognition of Indian culinary skills on the global stage.

India’s performance showcased its leadership in both innovation-driven fields like Additive Manufacturing and Web Technology, as well as in traditional craftsmanship areas such as Cabinet Making and Cooking. This year’s achievements underscore India’s rising prominence in global skills competitions.
Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (I/C), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, congratulated the Indian team, stating, “This is a moment of immense pride for our country. The Bronze medals and Medallions of Excellence reflect our commitment to skills development and the vision of a Kushal and Viksit Bharat.”
The success of Team India at WorldSkills Lyon 2024 is attributed to the rigorous training and support provided by various industry partners, including Lavvone Academy, Leela Hotels, and several others. Their contributions ensured that the competitors were well-prepared to meet international standards and excel on the global stage.
