India Seeks Extradition Of Khalistani Terrorist Arsh Dalla Following Arrest In Canada

Published:

India announced on Thursday that it will formally request the extradition of Khalistani terrorist Arshdeep Singh, also known as Arsh Dalla, following his recent arrest in Canada. Dalla, arrested on October 28 in Ontario, faces charges in connection with a shooting incident and is considered a major operative of the Khalistan Tiger Force.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, stated that India has been tracking Dalla’s activities for some time and is actively working with Canadian authorities to expedite his extradition.

Dalla, the de facto chief of the Khalistan Tiger Force, is a proclaimed offender in India with over 50 criminal cases against him, including murder, attempted murder, extortion, and terrorism, including terror financing.

He has been a major figure in promoting the Khalistani movement and is linked to several violent incidents. In May 2022, India issued a Red Corner Notice for his arrest, and in 2023, he was designated as a terrorist under India’s anti-terror laws.

In July 2023, the Indian government requested Canada’s assistance for Dalla’s provisional arrest, but the request was declined. Subsequently, the Indian government sent a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) request to verify Dalla’s personal and financial details, including his suspected residential address, mobile numbers, and financial transactions linked to India.

This information was provided to Canadian authorities in January 2023. In December 2023, the Canadian Department of Justice requested additional information on the case, which India responded to in March 2024.
