New Delhi, India: India expressed deep sorrow on Sunday after learning about the tragic plane crash in South Korea’s Muan city, which claimed the lives of at least 176 people.
“Deeply saddened to learn of the tragic plane crash at Muan airport today. We extend our heartfelt condolences to bereaved family members. The Indian Embassy stands in solidarity with the people & government of the Republic of Korea in this difficult hour,” said Amit Kumar, India’s Ambassador to Seoul, in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
The crash involved a 15-year-old Boeing 737-800, which was returning from Bangkok. According to reports, the aircraft lost control during its landing attempt when its landing gear reportedly failed to deploy. The plane skidded off the runway, crashed into a concrete fence, and exploded into flames.
