New Delhi, 27th Sept. Union Minister of Communications, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, inaugurated a 5G O-RAN testing lab at the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) in Bengaluru, along with the Tejas Centre of Excellence for Wireless Communications at Tejas Networks. These initiatives aim to bolster India’s telecom infrastructure and drive innovation towards the vision of “Atmanirbhar Bharat” and “Viksit Bharat 2047.”
5G O-RAN Testing Lab at C-DOT Scindia launched the 5G O-RAN testing lab, which will support startups, academia, and industry in testing 5G Open RAN systems. He witnessed a live 5G call using C-DOT’s O-RAN-based technology and emphasized the lab’s role in advancing a complete Indian 5G ecosystem, covering core, access, transport, cloud, and security domains.
During his visit to C-DOT, Scindia interacted with Bengaluru-based startups and praised C-DOT’s initiatives like BharatRAN-1 and BharatRAN-2, which are geared toward developing O-RAN-compliant solutions for public and private networks.
Tejas Centre of Excellence for Wireless Communications At Tejas Networks, Scindia inaugurated the Tejas Center of Excellence for Wireless Communications, aimed at advancing research and developing innovative wireless products for next-generation mobile networks, including 6G technologies. He lauded Tejas Networks for their contributions to BSNL’s 4G/5G network rollout and highlighted the center’s focus on emerging areas like AI, Massive MIMO, and Terahertz Communications.
Scindia’s visit will continue tomorrow with the inauguration of Cisco’s new manufacturing plant in Chennai, focusing on the production of advanced telecom and networking equipment for 5G and future technologies.
