Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini presented the state budget for 2025-26 on Monday, with an outlay of ₹2.05 lakh crore, aiming to make Haryana “future capable.”

In his budget speech at the state Assembly, Saini revealed that he received around 11,000 suggestions from various sections. A key highlight is the creation of a new “Department of Future” to drive technological advancements and governance reforms.
The budget, up 13.70% from the revised estimates of 2024-25, prioritizes e-governance and technological innovation. Saini announced the launch of the Haryana AI (Artificial Intelligence) Mission, supported by ₹474 crore in World Bank assistance, with AI hubs planned in Gurugram and Panchkula.
To boost startups, the government will promote private investments to build a ₹2,000 crore “fund of funds.” Social welfare initiatives include the ‘Lado Lakshmi Yojana’, allocating ₹5,000 crore to provide ₹2,100 monthly assistance to women.
In a bid to combat drug abuse, Saini proposed the establishment of the Substance Abuse and Narcotics Knowledge Awareness and Liberation Programme Authority, with ₹10 crore earmarked for the initiative.
Additionally, the budget focuses on agricultural development, proposing a Horticulture Research Centre in Palwal and a flower market in Gurugram.
Saini highlighted the government’s emphasis on e-governance over the past decade, claiming the fulfillment of 19 out of 217 poll promises so far. The budget reflects a blend of technological progress and social welfare, setting the stage for a forward-looking Haryana.
