Imphal, 16th Sept. A grenade exploded at the residence of Manipur Minister Kashim Vashum in Ukhrul district on Saturday night, causing major damage to the property. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as neither Vashum nor his family members were present at the time of the blast.
The explosion caused damage to the walls and various parts of the minister’s house. Police have recovered splinters from the scene and have heightened security measures in response to the attack. They are currently examining CCTV footage from the surrounding areas to aid in the investigation.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack thus far. Vashum, a legislator of the Naga People’s Front (NPF), which is an ally of the ruling BJP in Manipur, has been advised to enhance security.
The Tangkhul Naga Long, a prominent organization representing the Tangkhul Naga tribe, has condemned the attack and called on the police to take stringent action against the perpetrators.
